I may have been molested as a child by my brother. Should I tell family members?

Recently my incredibly weird half brother has been imprisoned (again) and my Father seems to bend over backwards to help him get on his feet. This is hard for me to watch because of the following: In my adult life I have always recalled moments of inappropriate times with my brother. I hardly remember how old these memories are however I know I was no older than 7. I have memories of him suggesting I show him my private area, I cant recall if I did or not but I do remember him exposing himself to me at that time. This took place in a closet in my bedroom. I feel that I would kill him in cold blood if he ever came anywhere near those children. Thats another reason why I think I really was molested by him. My mother has noticed how i react when he is brought up. She is now terrified that he molested me. But every time she asks i say "I don't know" should I tell her about what I remember ? this has to do with my right eye (not that it really matters) But, its always been my less dominant eye. i joined the military and ended up having to shoot left handed because i could not see well at all (with glasses) down the sights of my rifle. when i close my left eye to shoot or to...wink at the ladies?, its very fuzzy, and when i focus on things, my vision goes black. sometimes, it hurts, most of the time not. Can an ulcer in the eye turn into Glaucoma?

I have a pedigree Chinese Crested Powderpuff. She is 5 yrs old. One day her eye was shut, and I could see it was swollen, she appeared and acted as though in great pain. The vet looked at her eye, gave me eyedrops and said she had an ulcer in her eye. After several days of giving her the eye drops, and seeing no improvement, a worsening actually, we took her back in. The vet then said that she had now lost the vision in that eye. We returned home with antibiotics, drops, gel, prednizone, and a very sick half blind dog. I am not sure what to think....we were told now she has glaucoma. If someone has had any experience like this, or can tell me if I'm seeing a competent vet, please, please let me know.... I love this little dog! She's the most amazing dog ever! I'm terrified she will lose the other eye as well.

Eye Pain please help.?

This past month I've had pressure behind by eyes and sometimes it really hurts. It started out as only the left eye on the first day and now it's both. It's on and off but everyday. When I was about 12 my doctor told me that I have a chance of getting glaucoma because I had the risk factors for it but I don't have glaucoma. My eye exam in September of 2010 showed no signs of it and my eye pressure was ok and the doctor dilated my eyes and looked in them and said they were ok. I don't know what it might be should I go to my eye doctor? Also they twitch sometimes and the pain sometimes goes in the bridge of my nose and eye brows. Yesterday I saw sparkles everywhere for about 3 or 5 seconds.

I smoked some weed with my friends and when I was standing at a concession stand my eyesight slowly started to go away kinda like when you stand up and youre lightheaded. That is such a wonderful thing you have done by giving Otis a home. Please don't get rid of him. I live in a town that adopted an Ordinance that gives them the right to trap all the feral and stray cats and euthanize them and they have been doing that. It breaks my heart. I formed a Organization and solicited the help of Alley Cat Allies to try to help us save our cats. I was feeding a colony of 10 that is now down to 2 and I fear for their lives every day. It sounds to me like Otis is warming up to you slowly which is all you can expect from him. It is hard for us to imagine what they go through on the streets. Do you know how many people hate cats? I am finding out real fast by working with our problem. They do all kinds of things to harm them and I'm sure poor little Otis went through some of those things at the hand of a human being. It's going to take time. I have had strays that took as much as a year to warm up but you just have to let them go. That should attest to the fact that cats have feelings and make you love him all the more. As far as your new kitty goes I think you should put her with Otis. Please don't punish him because he is frightened by her. They may spat for a while but believe me when I tell you this - they WILL eventually love each other and you will see them cuddling up and sleeping or washing each other. You must take Otis out of isolation immediately because you are only making matters worse. Don't fear for Vera. She has claws and when she needs to she will use them. As far as training Otis. Have you tried the squirt bottle filled with water? That works with 99.9% of all cats for training them what not to do or where not to go. Glaucoma Question, large cup size & normal eye pressure?

I went for an eye exam and the doctor said I had a large "cup" size, which caused him to recommend me for glaucoma testing, however, everything else was fine. He had mentioned that my eye pressure was normal, and that I may have been born with this "cup" size. How common is it for someone to have a larger than normal cup size and "not" have glaucoma?

Hey Joe- Some people just can not wear contacts, like me for example. You may have to resort to wearing glasses again? If you wore glasses, you could always use a magnifier to read with. That is what I do. I wear glasses, and my lenses are pretty thick and heavy also. And my vision is 20/200 also. Sometimes the shape of the cornea prevents a person from wearing contact lenses. I do not know much about edema or hypoxia. Like you, I have the almid valve in my eyes to decrease my eye preasure, and I take a couple glaucoma drops also. Perhaps you have an ulcer on your eye that could be causing the problem? Your best bet is to ask your doctor about it.

When will they start listening?

I don't know exactly how you feel, but I'm pretty much in the same spot. I had 4 kids in 5 years and all of them are big trouble makers. My husband is in the army and hasn't been here for the last nine months. My kids are now 7,5,3,2. It seems that they start being a little better behaved around four years old but starts to get a lot better by five. I still have some issues with behavior though, it feels like they run circles around me sometimes. The key is consistent discipline while they are younger, even if you have to stop what you are doing, or leave a store to accomplish it. When they get older you have heart felt discussions about how their behavior effects you. They will get to the point where they empathize and want to help. My oldest will say, "Mom I know the girls are being bad and you are getting frustrated, what do you want me to do to help?" She is such a sweetheart now, but it is due to the fact that she has learned I don't put up with her crap, and many heart to heart talks. She used to be the worst of all. Oh the stories I could tell. I know it seems sometimes like there is no light at the end of the tunnel when it is 24/7. Keep your head up and fight the good fight. It'll be worth it. Another tip I have is get them involved in the cleaning up. I tell my kids if they can't behave they must need a chore to keep them busy. Even the little ones like taking a wet rag and wiping down the walls. I know yours are still little but they can do something to help mama out. Also I would like to add that they are not too young for discipline. I always start my kids when they are 18 months to two years old. The older they are the harder they are to fight. Let them know who is in charge.

How long does it take for a cat's vision to come back after going blind from hypertension?

My senior cat with CRF (diagnosed more than a year and a half ago) is now also blind as a result of hypertension likely as a result of his CRF. He only has one eye, having literally lost the other to glaucoma five years ago. His blood pressure was 220 on April 23 and he's been taking 1.25 mgs (half a pill) of Amlodipine since then. We think we caught the blindness quickly since he only has one eye in the first place. His pressure in the "good" eye was normal so he does not have glaucoma. He won't get another BP reading until May 20. How long does it take for the vision to return, or at what point do you just resolve yourself with the fact that the vision will not return?

Why is it when a doctor gives a patient the wrong medicine (eye drops) why is it ok?

This is something that I cannot seem to understand about some, doctors (because there are a few good ones left) how is it that they can injure a patient and that is ok but if someone else commits a crime they will have to pay for it dearly. Not a doctor though, I have had a terrible time with my eyes with eye drops that have been put into them and yet the doctors office have become angry with me how stupid is that. I didn't do it they did and all I asked is that they clean up there mess, we are now living in a very sick society and there are some people in it they think that they are untouchable. For the past year I have complained to my Primary care physician about an abrupt change in my vision and pain in my eye. Possibly pregnant and getting glaucoma workup with eye drops..dangerous for baby?

My hubby and I have been trying for a second baby and little did I know, I might have eye issues and so have been referred to get "Glaucoma work up" at a local opthamologist. I don't know about this procedure but I do know eye drops are used before the various tests. We don't know if I am pregnant yet but I would like to know, will the eye drops affect a possibly implanted egg/fetus? I truly hope not and am a little worried. I'd like to of course start off my pregnancy as healthy as possible and thats why I am concerned. I don't want to use any medications and whatnot, but obviously glaucoma can be serious and so I need to go to this apointment and cannot put it off. Solution or cure to glaucoma?

My hubby has glaucoma and it is not a hard condition to deal with. He uses 2 different kinds of eye drops every day and another at night. He use to have a hard time remembering, but we put the drops by his bedside and he uses them before he gets up in the morning and before he goes to bed at night. He has had laser surgery twice and it is simple too. No pain or anything. It lowers the pressure within the eye. You do need a good doctor whose specialty is glaucoma. We went to the Eye Institute in Dallas.

hey before i start thanks for reading this sorry its long. When i was born i had a disease called glaucoma its a buld up of fluid in the eye and im legally blind in my right eye im fifteen now. Since I'm pre-diabetic, I asked the optician visiting at work to do a glaucoma screen. She said that my levels were 18 and 19 and that I should check it at every eye checkup. How do I get my 2.5y.o. to sleep?

My daughter lives at two different houses, her father's house, and mine. At her father's house, I can get her to sleep by giving her her bottle (yes I haven't been able to get rid of it yet) and reading a boring adult book to her. She also has her own room at her father's. Here, she does not have her own room. She has been in a toddler bed since before she was two; crib escape artist. (She had a sleep over with her bf last week and we put them in the crib. Five minutes later he was crying because she was climbing out of his crib!) I've always had to hold her down to lay with me to get her to sleep most of the time. The same method that works at her father's won't work here. Over the past week or two, when I try to get her to sleep, she has been working her self up so much that she pukes. Will my niece have to pay taxes on fundraisers she has had for her eye surgeries.?

My niece is 25, she was born legally blind with a condition called aniridia, absence of the iris, she got through school and college by holding books about 5 or 6 inches from her face, she lived with a roomate while in college as she will never be able to drive. Last year, she went on vacation with her parents(my sister) and they discovered her sight was alot worse, she was bumping into things, could not read any menus which she used to do, etc. They took her to different eye doctors and found out that a surgeon in Ohio (we are in SC) could do several surgeries on each eye, they are still in the experimental stage, but so far she has had 3 surgeries on each eye, each stay for surgery requires that they stay in Ohio for 10 days in hotels and eating etc. up there while she goes back and forth to make sure she doesn't reject the meds and her eye is doing well after each surgery. She now has beautiful irises, she was able to pick her color and she chose a blueish green. She also has lots of pressure, glaucoma and cataracts, they have done some work on those but are not finished. She is on disability even though she works a part time job at a department store and she has medicaid, but most of these surgeries are not covered as they are in the experimental stage. The next surgeries she willl have, that is one eye at a time, will be stem cell replacement, they will be up there 10 days again, then home and back for other eye.This is not FDA approved in US yet,but I heard it is fixing to be approved soon, but that could mean a year or 2. We have had various yard sales, bake sales,a poker run, etc, to raise money for them to pay the docs, some want money up front. Cooks for Christ put on a fundraiser yesterday for her at the fire department and everyone worked it, maybe about 350 to 400 volunteers, afterwards we stood in a circle and said a prayer of thanks and they made the announcement that the bake sale had made $1100 and the total of everything was $19,400 which they took over in a container to my niece and handed it to her. She has an account set up at a bank for donations and our church said there are still more donations coming in. Will they have to pay taxes on this, my boss just brought it up and I told her I have no idea. If anyone can give me some information, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

People learn to live with chronic illnesses... not trying to diminish your daughters issue but people live with diabetes and give themselves injections everyday.. people live with diseases like Lupus or Crohns that they take daily medication for, peopel live with asthma and use inhalers all the time..... Eventually she will come to terms with it and realize it is just something she has to deal with or live with the consequences.. Have her look for a support group online (www.dailystrength.org has great support groups for about any medical condition you can imagine), being able to talk to other people who go through the same thing might help.

Yes I know it is bad to sleep with your contacts. Actually I think I may have a serious problem so I need a serious answer. And not "go see an opthomologist"... Ok so I got In the habit of sleeping in my contacts and there not the long wear ones. I have left them in for about a week forgetting about them. I didny have any pain. Chinchilla...just because I am addicted. Chins are lovely little animals with the softest fur in the entire world. They are nocturnal so they will sleep all day while you are in class/work and be ready for play when you get home. Chins have nearly no smell unless their cage is not cleaned out regularly. They actually remind me a bit of cats, which as you know make you earn their love. they are very playful little brats and cute. Search chinchilla popcorning on youtube and you will see what I mean. Chances are for good that you will NOT go blind. I asked my eye doctor the same question early on. It is important to not miss a single dose of drops and if you have any huge floaters or a black curtain appear in an eye to go to the doctor immediately.

Very difficult period ( deaths in family, redundancy) taking toll on married life. Help please?

Our my marriage is going through a difficult time after rollercoaster couple of years my husband and I seem to be constantly arguing as he is unbelievably tense, touchy, hyper-critical and tired and withdrawn. We had our beautiful baby girl who is the light of our lives 2 years ago but immediately after her birth one very close family member ( his aunt who brought him up) died of terminal cancer-my husband had been with her various times during the pregnancy and at just one month old we took our baby to be with her during her final days then organised and paid for funeral and sorted out all legal affairs and paid all debts. My husband's father then became ill with terminal cancer just 6 months later- we were the mainstay throughout chemo, home care etc I did as much as I could but my priority was the baby..A very painful 9 months followed as family refused external care until the very end. Another close family member died 1 month ago and agin we took on the brunt of it all. In the meantime, we have had to financially bail out his sister who is unemployed and a compulsive spender and mega in debt. I was then made redundant and as I have a spinal disability work especially in the recession is hard to find. My husband is very withdrawn or mega on edge and it seems that it is one problem after another-he has just been diagnosed with glaucoma which has frightened him but for the moment the doctors seem to have it under control. We have been going to marriage counselling which does help but we have little time or money which is compounded by the fact that we are trying to buy a house as where we live is on 4 floors and is impossible for my back. I try to tell my husband to look on the bright side that we have a precious wonderful daughter, he has a job and we have a roof over our heads and no terminal illnesses but daily life seems a real grind..Any tips for breaking the argument cycle and getting our marriage back on track...Any constructive advice would be great..Thanks in advance.

PRED FORTE prednisone eye drops, can cause glaucoma!!!?

My eye doctor specialist (forget what they're called) but she's as far up the ladder as you can get in eye world of doctors, has prescribed me this. I have to put it in my eyes at least 4 times day. I should have never read the back of that pamphlet, Knowing I have OCD. It said prolonged use can cause glaucoma and optic nerve damage. How long would that be considered? I Just put them in normally, as I would any eye drops. Is there a certain way? I find sometimes it stings when I add them. Not too bad. I can tolerate it, but there is a stinging. It only last a few minutes after applying them.

Even though its frustrating that they aren't finding the problem, it is a relief to find out it isn't retinal detachment. I think you are on the right track seeing a neuro- opthamologist. There are some possibilities involving optic nerve function or migraines. Some people get optic migraines that produce strange visual effects, without getting the traditional migraine headache along with it. There is also the possibility of it being "flashers" which are normal. We start out with a gel in our eye which eventually turns more watery. Bits of it can stay in a gel form and can catch the light and make a little flash, and also make shadows on your retina (floaters). I have floaters, and they look like little pieces of lint or when you look at cells under a microscope. Best of luck! I hope you get some answers.

Bruising easily / a lot?

It's never a surprise for me to get bruises. I'm very active in climbing and sports so if one pops up every now and then it's no big deal. But lately I've noticed that I've been getting numerous bruises all over my legs and now my arms. At first I thought it was just because my siblings and I have started learning parkour...but I'm a big girl - I've got some meat on my bones - and I have a grand total of 29 purple bruises on my arms and legs and each of them are painful. Should I be concerned about this? Is it something worth seeing the doctor for?

vision loss or changes could be serious. Could be your eyes, could be your nervous system. I have a nervous system disorder that causes me to have vision changes, or even blindness/ tunnel vision/ seeing spots, etc. Please go ask your doctor. My friend went blind and had recurring vision problems, finally got diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Not trying to scare you, but please go see your doctor.

You're right. Human beings have this need to understand what can't be known, feel safe, have something to trust in, have something to give them comfort. When you say "God figure" do you mean something to trust in, depend on for safety and survival, to answer hard questions, and to give you comfort? Atheists don't necessarily put faith in only scientists, but more in humanity in general. Atheists would rely on themselves and other people than something that they can't sense. They know that humans (scientists in particular) are trying to help humanity (for the most part). You cannot KNOW that there is a God who cares at all about humans. To me, it makes more sense to put your faith in something that you KNOW is trying to help.

Major back pains, don't know whats causing it? Help!?

My lower back towards my right side is in so much pain. It's pressure and pain that almost puts me into tears. Usually overnight it gets acted up, but it woke me up last night and the pains are so much worse then usual. This has been bothering me for about a week... I could walk normally earlier in the week but this morning it is so painful and I find myself somewhat hunched over. Putting on my shoes or pants is hurting from bending down, climbing into a chair or adjusting my legs hurts. I don't know if it's from me sleeping wrong... but I feel like it is a lot more than just that. Slipped disc, fracture.... I don't know. If anyone can think of anything, please let me know!

How many days does it take to find out if timolol eye drops are helping my dogs glaucoma? He gets 2 drops/day?

Just found out our 10 year old dog has glaucoma in 1 eye. Vet escaped the room before giving me much info. I have no idea how far it has progressed. We live in a rural area so have no specialist to take him to. Should we wait until the eye drops are all used up and then see the vet again, or take him to another vet? Usually our vet is very good, must have been busy that day.
